Hindustan Copper plans to increase mine production capacity to 12.2 MTPA

State-owned Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) is implementing expansion projects to increase mine production capacity to 12.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), its CMD Ghanshyam Sharma said on Thursday. The move will boost domestic production of copper and reduce dependence on imports. The company achieved ore production of 3.78 million tonnes in FY'24 against 3.35 MT in FY'23, registering a rise of 13 per cent. Speaking during the 57th Annual General Meeting, Sharma who is holding the addition charge of Chairman and Managing Director, said that the ongoing capacity expansion project i.e. development of underground mine below the existing open cast mine at Malanjkhand Copper Project (MCP) will augment the ore production capacity from 2.5 MTPA to 5 MTPA. The ore production from open cast mine has now exhausted and underground mine is operating below existing open cast mine leaving some barrier pillar.

IDFC FIRST Bank announces completion of IDFC Ltd merger effective Oct 1

IDFC First Bank on Friday announced the completion of merger of IDFC Limited with the bank. This follows the receipt of all requisite shareholder and regulatory approvals, the bank said in a statement. The merger is effective from October 1, 2024, it added. As a result of the merger, it said, 155 equity shares of the bank will be allotted for every 100 equity shares of IDFC Limited held by such shareholder in IDFC Limited as on the Record Date i.e., October 10, 2024. The shares are expected to be credited to shareholders of IDFC Limited on or before October 31, 2024, subject to regulatory processes and clearances, it said. "The shareholding structure will be like other leading institutional Indian private sector banks with no promoter holding. The bank will continue to be professionally managed institution," it said. As part of the merger, it said, about Rs 600 crore of cash and cash equivalents will flow to the bank.

Air India to check veracity of flight crew's fatigue reports from Oct 1

Air India (A-I) has introduced a new internal policy, effective from October 1, under which it will verify the authenticity of fatigue reports submitted by its flight crew and reclassify them as "sick leave" if found to be "unsubstantiated", Business Standard has learnt. The policy is part of a series of new measures being implemented ahead of A-I's merger with Vistara, aimed at "boosting efficiencies" within the airline, according to officials. However, pilots have voiced concerns over the new step.

Zomato co-founder Akriti Chopra resigns to pursue other interests

Online food ordering and delivery platform Zomato on Friday said its co-founder and Chief People Officer Akriti Chopra has resigned to pursue other interests. Designated as senior management personnel, Chopra has tendered her resignation, with effect from September 27, 2024, Zomato said in a regulatory filing. She has been with the company for 13 years and played a key role in setting up and scaling Zomato's legal and finance teams in her previous role as CFO. Before joining Zomato, she worked with PwC for three years in the tax and regulatory practice. In January last year, another Zomato co-founder and its then chief technology officer Gunjan Patidar resigned after over a decade stint in the company. Before that in November 2022, another co-founder Mohit Gupta had resigned. Gupta was elevated to co-founder level in 2020 from the position of CEO of its food delivery business.

BharatPe settles with former co-founder Ashneer Grover; drops legal action

BharatPe announced on Monday that it had reached a settlement with former co-founder Ashneer Grover, who will no longer be associated with the company. “As part of the settlement, Grover will not be associated with BharatPe in any capacity nor be a part of the shareholding of the company,” the company said in an official statement. As part of the deal, some of Grover's shares will be transferred to the Resilient Growth Trust, while the rest will be managed by his family trust. Both BharatPe and Grover have agreed not to pursue any legal action as part of their settlement. “We wish Grover well. BharatPe continues to focus on delivering industry-leading solutions to its merchants and customers, driving growth with profitability,” the statement added. The case pertains to BharatPe’s allegations against Grover of misappropriation of funds. BharatPe accused Grover and his family of causing losses of about Rs 81.3 crore. The allegations include improper payments to fake HR consultants, inflated costs from connected vendors, fake input tax credit transactions, illegal payments to travel agencies, forged invoices, and destruction of evidence.
